Employability
The school became compulsory for all Moroccan children aged 6 to 13 in 19635. There is indeed no extracurricular kindergarten system in Morocco, most children start school at 6 years. For parents wishing to bring their children into the education system earlier, there are either foreign schools or private schools. The latter being, for financial reasons, often reserved for wealthy people, their price does not match the average Moroccan income.
In the 1980s, the education system was Islamized then Arabized. Minister Azzedine Laraki is appointed Minister of National Education with the support of the Istiqlal party. Azzedine Laraki forbids all philosophy classes. Then he tackles sociology classes. The school of Moroccan sociology is banned and the few foreign sociologists are expelled. The minister then announces the introduction of compulsory Islamic studies courses.
Then all subjects are quickly arabized, French is maintained only as a foreign language. In 1989, Arabization and Islamization of the public education system were completed. The few wealthy Moroccan families who still sent their children to public schools cease to do so. French remains as a language of instruction in science subjects in secondary technical and vocational schools, technical schools, higher technology schools and universities.
stre annonce ensuite l'instauration de cours d'études islamiques obligatoires.
